No the hip-hop duo aren't about to step in the ring. But they might be heading to court as the members of M.O.P. are suing John Cena, for supposedly using samples of their infamous hit "Ante Up" in his theme song without their permission.
Apparently some receptionist signed off on the license, for the WWE's rights to sample the song. The rap duo claims there is a certain phrase in the song that can be heard in Cena's entrance music, in 3 different areas. This unlawful use has been going on since 2005 and the WWE has licensed Cena's theme to various third party companies for use with their merchandise. M.O.P.'s response to this situation is a $150,000 law suit against the sports franchise and the wrestler. In addition, they also want Cena's theme song destroyed and stripped from all future WWE merchandise. The duo believe the damages caused by Cena's copyright infringement are worth more than the actual current lawsuit, but are unable to go for further damages at this time. There has been no word from Cena or the WWE.
Ok, so if Cena stealing shyt, thats wrong, but why wait 3 years to sue him for it?! It seems to me, like someone is just a little desperate for cash. Even if M.O.P. wins their case, do you know how much money the WWE is worth? $150, 000 aint gone mean a damn thing to that company. Also, the rap duo is playing this all wrong, if they were smart, they would allow Cena to keep the song and just work it out to be cut in on the profit. Think about it, Cena's poser a** is a popular wrestler, fans love this fool. The longer he uses the song and turns a profit, the more they could be getting paid. I swear people these days, dont think for nothing! Oh well, I really could care less. I just used to be a WWE fan and so this caught my eye. Chain gang stand up! Or not, let me stop, John Cena is super lame, lol. -MinM
