So apparently Ice Cube is not only taking this time to return to the rap game but to the on screen game as well. He will be aiding in penning a new cop comedy show for the NBC network.
Sources say that the rapper / actor will be executive producing and writing an untitled work for the network to help them compete better in the ratings department. Network reps report that they are happy to be working with the rapper, as they are trying to expand their diversity relationships on and off screen. They respect Cube's accomplishments and career and admire his growth from his NWA days. Also, they are hoping Cube gets the acting itch to appear in the series at some point or at least in the pilot offering. This will be Cube's fourth tv offering, past ones included: "Barbershop," "Black-White," and an animated version of the hit movie Friday. There has been no official release date or title set for the future NBC show.
I didnt realize Cube did so much behind the scenes work. I think thats gangsta, hes a rapper investing his time and money in something profitable and logical. At the same time, expanding his career and adding to his list of accomplishments. Take notes 50, thats really how you get your grind on. Im excited to see what comes of this show. "Black-White," was my ish when I had cable. Its was an edgy move but one that was well executed. It really showed how multi-talented Cube is. Hopefully, NBC lets him just do his thing and dont try to intrude by keeping things geared a certain way or anything. I hate when corporate america does that to things. Projects come off at their best when whoever the mastermind is, can let his vision shine through raw and untouched. I agree with them on one thing though, it would be nice to see Cube on the screen again. Hes a talented actor and doesnt do bad in roles of authority. Yall already know, Im on the story, so any updates, will be posted, no doubt. So stay tuned to the site. -MinM
