Charles Hamilton & Q Da Kid Freestyle
Charles Hamilton and Q Da Kid's delivery here seem to be lacking that wow factor that goes with a good freestyle. I think it is because of the way they used the beat. The beat used was the new single from 50 Cent, "Get Up." It is a fast paced and heavy hitting track production wise. However, Charles asked the dj to slow it down. I think that was a mistake, it just doesn't sound natural slowed down. You can tell, the beat was meant to be more animated. Lyrically, the freestyles were pretty decent. I think Q went in a little harder on his though. I think the thing to keep in mind here, is getting hype is not a bad thing. The more an emcee seems to really feel what he's saying on the mic, the more we as listeners get into it. But overall, I say if you like freestyle music, than give this a play, it's not too bad. If they would have kept the beat as is, it would have carried much more of a punch to it, so to speak. Or maybe, if they were feeling that chill, they should have used a more naturally relaxed beat.
