Russell Simmons and huge retailer Target will be putting together a holiday event next month for the youth. Along with his brothers, Simmons will celebrate the creativity of New York's future, by bringing more than 500 struggling youth to receive gifts and participate in a variety of festive events.
This event is the "Ninth Annual Youth Holiday Party" and will be held in New York City. The event is organized by Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, a project of Simmons. This will be Target's 5th year sponsoring the event. Other than the Simmon's family, there will be several special guests on board, including DJ Envy. Additional celebs like: Chris Brown, Lebron James, etc; have made contributions to the event via autographs. Several raffle prizes will be on deck including: basketball jerseys, an Ipod, video games, and an X-Box 360 console. The party goes down on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 4pm-7pm at the Filmore New York, Irving Plaza.
I think this is sweet and it's always good to see people giving back on the holidays. I'm not mad at that raffle selection at all, actually kind of jealous, lol. I'm bout to go for broke, trying to buy myself a 360 for Xmas. Naw but seriously, I hope this event goes well and that the youth enjoy themselves. There is nothing worse than not having anything going on for the holidays, so I'm glad folks recognize it and are doing something about it. Even though Xmas is not about all the material things, the tradition of gifts and stuff, is still a nice one to take part in. Especially, when your young. So much love to the Simmons family and to Target. -MinM
