Are rappers better off being studio gangstas? After reading this story, you might tend to think so. Come up rapper Rico Todriquez Wright has been sent to prison after telling on himself via his own song.
The Georgia rapper has been sent to prison for 20 years for an indirect confession of a 2006 shooting. The Associated Press reports that the verdict was served to the rap hopeful earlier this week. Wright wrote a song where he pointed out his victim, by name. The victim was shot 2 years ago in September, by Wright. The victim alleges that he had a small friendship with Wright that ended when he received multiple gunshots to his thigh and groin areas. A large group of people were reported to have been surrounding the two when the shooting went down. The victim tried to run but obviously to no avail. The line that got Wright his lengthy sentence which also includes 20 years on probation? It is very simple: "Chad Blue knows how I shoot." Wright's specific charges are two counts of aggravated assault. He is currently only 25 years of age.
This is a damn shame and it makes me really sad. How freakin' stupid can you be, to tell on yourself in your own rap song?! I mean come the hell on, I thought n--ggas posting they shyt online was bad, but this is right up there with it. There were reportedly no witnesses who were talking and the victim's testimony was not enough to breed the sentence. So if this ignorant mofo would have kept his mouth shut, he might not have gotten any time at all! My sources said he was convicted on the lyrics alone. Now he has lost the next 40 years of his life to the system and for what? He probably was just clowning in front of the fools who was watching. All this was most likely utter bs. N--ggas these days better wake up, the streets is NOT where it's at. All those idiots standing by egging him on and watching, probably will never make any contact with him again, out of sight, out of mind. And no it is not his lawyer's fault, he shouldn't have did it. He is old enough to have more sense than that. If you gone shoot somebody, you don't admit to doing it on a recorded media form that any one can get a hold of. People never ever cease to amaze me. He deserves all his time and more. -MinM
