Wassup, I know y'all gonna be in full effect for this one!
The latest Emcee Diary comes from someone who's music we have featured previously on TBE, up-and-coming Queens beatmaker and rhymespitter PreZZure. One of the things we at TBE are known for are giving props to the dope emcees, especially those who were on the forefront of a particular movement in Hip-Hop. Read below how one rapper inspired PreZZure to pick up the pen... AND a backpack (if you know him, you see what I mean, haha).
"When I get bent I must represent, no question..."
My favorite emcee is Joe Budden. My favorite Hip-Hop group is Wu-Tang Clan. My favorite Hip Hop song is "Boom" by Royce 5'9". My goal is to be recognized as one of the best producers ever, but somehow the one that inspired to be an emcee is the man known as Buckshot. Kenyatta Blake is the reason I wanted to grab the mic, flip the script, and leave y’all stunned. Have you ever heard "Who Got The Props?" played before a concert? I did.
September 26, 2006, my first ever performance at the Five Spot in Brooklyn. It was the Optimus Foundation: Get Open Show. I was dumb nervous about getting on stage. It's natural for any first- timer to be somewhat intimidated by performing in front of a group of strangers, but when I heard that song ring out while I was mumbling over my lyrics, I stopped to take in the scene. It was then I felt the butterflies disappear. I have that same feeling now every time I step on stage. It's the only time I feel freedom.
I performed that night and ripped down the house. Listening to Buckshot before my show helps me settle in. It's funny because listening to "Enta Da Stage" as a kid didn't have the same effect. It just made me hyper screaming "don't front, you know I Got Cha Opin!" in the hallways of my elementary school (sidebar: I used to misspell ‘open’ because of this song). To think.fifteen years later those same songs would have that much of a lasting effect! Hopefully my music will one day last the test of time as well. Maybe I’ll even produce for Buckshot in the near future? I'll let time tell that story. I just came here to tell mine. This is why I'm an emcee. Word To The Wise: "How many MC's" can say this? "Niguz talk shit" but "Son Get Wrec" if he disrespect. Don't wanna be a "Slave" but I wanna "Make Munne" because "Shit iZ Real" so "Act Like U Want It". I didn't have a "Black Smif-N-Wessun", but if I did, I'd "Buck Em Down" with a mic and the sound of "Powerful Impak!", boom no cannon. By the time I'm done they'll be like "U Da Man" kid.
"Rest in peace to my niggas in the East. And all the real niggas that was shot by beast."
