Move over Bow Wow and adios Soulja Boy, Lil Scooby is taking over the youth scene. Check out Cali's newest rapping sensation.
So the video concept here is really basic. It's about Scooby's daydream of a 106 And Park performance. At the the end of his performance, the crowd goes wild, he is attacked by females, and he gets his name chanted. And then, he is brought to reality by the yelling of a very upset mom. Who wants him to get up off the floor and clean up his mess. Too cute, I loved it!
I loved the video, I think it was extremely fitting. Mainly because, alot of people measure your success by how your video ranks when they catch your video on the hottest countdowns. Also, the audience that Scooby is destined for, is that 106 And Park group. He is one for the younger hip-hop heads and we all know that show caters to alot of artists in that same department. In fact, I think it helps boost their careers a good deal. So brilliant idea for the video.
As far as the song goes, I thought it was hot. Scooby gave a strong delivery, you could tell that he was really into the track. The production was good too, strong bass with a light bell throughout, and a light feel for the hook. The hook was nicely done, the vocalist was on point, and his and Scooby's parts were set up well. Just a nice back and forth, no overlapping or crowding. The verses lyrically, were what you would expect from a young rapper: "Shorty look better than a top model diva. Light green eyes and her name ain't Eva. She like me cause I'm fly and got the right state of mind. I get her hot and ready, when I grab her from behind." So the lyrics were well put together, you can see Scooby's swagger in them, pretty quality for a young cat. Overall, I think Cali might be on to something here and I enjoyed this a hell of alot more than any Soulja Boy cut. Scooby has the potential to bring some quality to the young hip-hop scene and it desperately needs it. But what do you guys think? -MinM
