It's that time again, the Grammy nominations have been revealed. And hip-hop has got some pretty heavy representation going on. Unfortunately though, most of it is via Lil Wayne.
So Weezy leads the pack with 8 nominations, including the coveted, "Album of the Year." Following in behind him are Jay Z and Kanye West with 6 nominations. Other artists who got nods this year include: Ne-Yo, Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson, Jazmine Sullivan, M.I.A., and Leona Lewis. This will be the 51st edition of the Grammy Awards and the show is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2009. The event will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
So I am happy to see so many hip-hop people getting nominated. I am not thrilled that our leading person is Weezy. Again, I feel like he is more hype than anything, and can only hope that nominations is all he gets. Out of eight though, I'm sure he is picking up something. Though that would be one hell of an ego killer, to lose all eight. And heaven help us all, if he wins all of them. Either way, I hope the awards are at least semi -interestng. Also, I hope the performance line up is as promising as the nominations are. I plan on tuning in and bad performances will make that a hard task to stick with it.
