Jermaine Dupri is doing big things, as he will be honored next week in California. The American Civil Liberties Union will show respect to him for his major achievements in music, as he has worked with tons of artists over the years and launched a few careers as well. Additonally, Dupri will also be recognized for his positive and productive work in the community, by way of encouragements and developments. He has been involved with such projects as: The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, repealing the Rockerfeller Drug Laws, raising profits for The Hurricane Relief Fund, and maintained an active membership in the Rap The Vote Campaign. Joining him in being honored next week, is NBA legend Magic Johnson. Receiving this award will put Dupri in a league of huge past recipients such as: Rosa Parks, Oliver Stone, Babyface, and more. The specific award he will receive is the 2008 Bill Of Rights Award, and this will go down on Monday, December 8, 2008 in Beverly Hills.
Congrats to Dupri! This is whats up, hip-hop receiving some positive recognition. Also, this is seemingly very significant as this award looks to hold alot of prestige and what not. Once again, we have proof of the strides that hip-hop has taken over the years. Big ups to Dupri for holding us down, Janet Jackson better stand proud by her man. I would have said tall, but that mofo already short as hell, lol. Let me quit, seriously though, I love reading about stuff like this. It makes me proud to be a member of the hip-hop community and it really is a good look. Hopefully, the event is nice and Dupri and his wifey have a good time. See rappers can do more than fight and go to jail, lol. -MinM
