Earlier this morning rappers and the city of Houston came together to pay tribute to the legendary Pimp C. It is the one year anniversary of his passing.
Houston radio station KPFT, put together a live program this morning, to pay homage to the rapper. The program included having other artists come into the radio station and speaking on the memory of Pimp C. Rappers involved in this event included: Bun B, DJ Paul, David Banner, Big Gipp, and more. The host, Matt Sonzala, restricted visitors by making this an invite only affair and closing the studio to those not invited. He wanted to make sure that this was done as respectfully as possible. However, listeners were allowed the opportunity to call in and have a say in the tribute. The program aired from 12am -3am CST, this morning.
I think this was a neat idea. I'm not a fan of Pimp C or UGK, so I won't say too much here. I do have mad respect for the dead and respect for what UGK contributed to hip-hop though. With that said, I hope this turned out nicely. May Pimp C rest in peace and may his memory thrive on positively in Houston. -MinM
