I’m going to keep it real with you all. I promised to blog as much as I physically can, but I can only seem to do that when I have real, righteously dope hip-hop to share or I have a message to deliver.
Right now, I have a mix of both.
Many of us, especially since 2009, have vowed to "go harder" at our careers, relationships, and lives at warp speed by any means necessary. However, when do we take time to appreciate what we DO have, the seemingly minuscule things that we need day in & out? Do we ever take the time to thank our Maker for blessing us with our able bodies? Do we ever take time to think, "what if God didn’t make lungs or a tongue? It’s wetness, yes this means we couldn’t talk then, and without yo’ big toes it’d be difficult to walk then". Or even, fathom the miracle of childbirth: "Most High so high how did ya do it? Used to breathe fluid and suddenly its air?"
Compton, California artist Kumasi, dubbed the ‘Common’ of the Black Wall Street label by the head honcho himself (The Game), used his single "Amazing Grace" as humble, open love-letter to the Creator thanking him for his being. I’m definitely not trying to preach to by posting this, but I do think everyone could take the time to stop wanting so much and realizing what you’ve got – and possibly the real reason WHY you have them.
