Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne have recently spoken out on their support of the new gang documentary, narrated by actor Forest Whitaker. The documentary is called, Crips and Bloods: Made In America and focuses on the gang violence throughout the state of California.
It will feature former gang members and all sorts of individuals who work to prevent and stop gang activity. The purpose is to try and sort out the reasons and issues that contribute to gangs. As well as to shed light on the severity of the problem. Both rappers feel it's important because it shows how serious the matter is and how we need to bring about change in our communities before there is nothing left to change. The documentary will have upcoming showings in select cities: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. There has been no set dates or mention of if it will ever be available nationally.
I like that Snoop and Wayne are getting behind something productive. I think that is a good look and will definitely help draw attention to the documentary. I personally love documentaries and watched a few regarding this issue just recently. It really is a mess and needs as much work as possible. But I don't think it should just be always about gangs in California, I think the gang issue in all areas needs to be dealt with. Cali might be the worst for it, but there are certainly other states where it's a major issue too. I hope this documentary achieves the desired affect and that there is a way to view it outside of the select cities. I am curious to see, what it is all about. -MinM
