Ludacris has joined forces with tennis superstar Serena Williams to create a theme song for her tennis matches. The "Serena's Song" contest will be conducted through Luda's website, WeMix. WeMix is a site that Luda started last Summer to offer music industry hopefuls a chance to get their material online and a chance to potentially network with some big names in the game.
The contest is open to all who are interested nationwide. The music must be original work inspired by or about Serena Williams. Serena will pick her favorites as finalists and the ultimate winner will be decided by the WeMix community and the community at Serena's personal website. The winner will be taken to the studio to professionally record their work and then their song will become Serena's official theme. Serena is excited about this project as she feels music and sports go hand in hand. And Luda is excited because he feels this is a good opportunity for music to keep expanding over different boundaries. Any interested parties can go to www.WeMix.com for more specific details and to enter.
This sounds like a cool contest. I like the fact that she just didn't pick some mainstream artist to do her track, anybody could do that. It's a good look to allow someone the opportunity to come up through recording a song for her. She is such a huge talent in the sports world, there is no telling where this could lead the lucky winner. Like Luda said, the sports world is a whole new territory for music. I wish all who enter the best of luck and hope we get a chance to hear the end result of it all. It would be nice, if it was a hip-hop joint. Another positive stride for our community, we will see what happens though. -MinM
