I reported recently that Method Man had been hit by the infamous celeb tax curse problem. He owes about $53,000 in personal income taxes. As a result, his Lincoln Navigator was seized from his Staten Island home.
Well the rapper released a statement about the ordeal. He says that it is indeed true that he owes that much in taxes. He says that he has known about his tax issue for some time now. He has been receiving letters about it, since 2002. However, he says due to his frequent weed usage, he just forgot about the taxes more or less.
"Myself, I'm a pothead," he admitted. "It's no secret. Everyone knows that. I go on the road and forget everything else. Sure, [the tax department] sent letters to my house saying, 'We need this money.' They started sending them in 2002." (Staten Island Advance)
No word on if he plans to take care of the situation now or not. Things are bit more serious with the tax department seizing his stuff, so maybe he will. Anything else comes up, I'll do another update.
Wow, Meth is a fool for this one. Never in a million years, would I expect him to go public with a statement like that. If that is how he treating the situation than I do not feel sorry for him at all. He deserved to have his truck taken. He's just acting plain stupid. There can't be nothing that good about weed, that you just ignore a $50,000 debt for 7 years! SMH, guess these rappers will learn one day. -MinM
