So I was all geared up to post a touching tribute to T.I., since today was his day of reckoning. Only to find out that he is not going into lockdown just yet, after all. Click the jump for further details.
Today in court, T.I. was granted another two months of freedom before having to turn himself in. He has to do another 470 hours of community service though, as part of the deal. Additionally, the rapper apologized in court for his wrong doings and had some prominent people speak in court on his behalf. In the end, his sentence boils down to: one year and a day locked up, three years supervised release, another 1,500 hours of community service, and a $100,000 fine. And then of course we all know about his pre - jail punishments, as well. Regardless of when he goes in, the rapper says he is not sweating the ordeal. He just wants to make sure that his people are situated and that all of his business is in order and that things will remain that way, while he does his time. There was no word on when exactly, he has to go in now. If anything else comes up, I'll keep you updated.
I am happy for the man, his last show on MTV was extra sad. I didn't want to see him get locked up, lol. However, I don't know if I would want to keep putting off the inevitable, if I was in his shoes. I mean, he still has to do the time. So why not just go ahead and get it over with already. Guess since I am not in the situation, it's hard for me to speak on. But much love to him and his family. I hope he enjoys the next couple of months and that they all appreciate his stroke of good luck. -MinM
