Drake has been a major hit in the hip-hop game lately. And his track "Best I Ever Had," is the new remix over kill song of the moment. So of course, he decided to make a video. Check out what he has in store below.....
Ok, I loved this song before everybody else did. I got the mixtape when it dropped. However, I am about tired of it now. It's been played and remixed to death. So I think this video is a little late, as far as timing goes. But since Drake is making so much noise, he might see some success with it. Grant it, that it's a decent video. If I was him, I think I'd wait until the first official single dropped from his debut to do a video. Idk, what do ya'll think? Is the track done or does it have enough life left in it for a video? -MinM
Thought my man DMX was going all gospel rap on us, guess he had a change of heart. Maybe he should have followed his first mind though. The production here is decent. Has bass, some keyboard sounds, typical club vibe going on. The hook is just alright, vocally Sean Kingston did well. The lyrics were poorly written though, could have been alot more creative. The verses are not all that great either. Delivery wise, X is doing way too much yelling and being aggressive. Yes, that's part of his style, but he can usually tone it down when needed. Lyrically, they have the hard edge that X brings on a regular but they sound recycled. They just don't have that DMX power to them. Overall, this song is a bust. If you want some real X, go back to his older works. -MinM
Rapper Tone Loc collapsed after performing at an outdoor concert in Florida this morning (5/29). He lost consciousness during a concert on Pensacola Beach at Capt'n Fun Beach Club. Reports say that the incident may be the result of a seizure brought on by overheating. Also, sources say that the rapper had just been complaining about the heat and humidity before he passed out. In addition to passing out, he also busted his elbow in the fall, leading to alot of blood loss. Fans and medical staff came together to help rush the rapper to the hospital. The venue where the concert took place is known for it's extreme heat conditions. No further info is available at this time. As things continue to develop, I'll report back.
I hope Tone is okay. I read about the venue and I do not understand why they don't have some type of cooling system for the stage area at least. I have heard that stage settings can get extremely hot, so couple that with the weather, and that should be an obvious hazard. Guess it's just good that they got him medical help right away. My thoughts are with him for a quick and safe recovery.
So Lil Wayne's manager has confirmed the buzz. He and Drake will be hitting the road for a nationwide tour this Summer. The tour will start in July. If Drake has his way it will include two more hip-hop heavy weights as well. Those artists are: Jay Z and Young Jeezy. No word either way was available from those two at the time of confirmation. Also, dates and venues are currently still pending. But the rest of the details are expected to drop very soon. In the mean time, Drake is working on his debut mainstream album. The album is called: Thank Me Later and the rapper is keeping a tight lid on what lucky label will release the project. As more details about the tour and album become available, I will do an update.
This is hot news, I love Drake to death, lol! I think he has a unique style about him. If he works it right, he could have a long career in this game. And that tour, though I don't like all the artists, would be hella major for an underground cat like him. So I hope that everyone signs on and that they make it to the Mid-West, haha. Stay tuned for singles and videos from that upcoming album. I'm gone be watching out for leaks and stuff. -MinM
Fabolous making his return has been a big deal in the hip-hop community. So now that his official first video has dropped, I decided it was a must review. Let's see if Fab should have stayed gone or is a part of what the game has been missing.
C-Murder pleaded no contest in his attempted murder case that took place this (5/27) afternoon. He was on trial for two counts of attempted second degree murder. His plea was part of a bargain and a judge has sentenced him to 10 years as a result. Results coming along this quickly, put things way ahead of schedule. Getting things under way were complicated, as the judge had a hard time selecting a jury. Most of the potential jurors were very familiar with C-Murder, causing the selection process to have to be extended. As a reminder C-Murder is on trial for a shooting that took place in 2001 at a club. He was sentenced once and found guilty but got a retrial. His retrial was a result of the mishandling of witnesses in the first case. His formal sentencing will take place on August 25, 2009.
Well this is better than the life sentence he was originally working on. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson with all this mess and this will be his last case ever. I wish him nothing but the best and hope that his time and everything plays out as well as possible. -MinM
The production here is solid. It has some bass, some light instruments, and a feel good vibe to it. The hook is not bad, but the lyrics could have been a little stronger though. The verses were decent, Juelz Santana actually shocked me on this one. He had good word play, kept a consistent flow, stayed on topic, etc. My only complaintis that the lyrics could have been more creative. It was just the typical banter about making it despite the odds being against you. Overall, I'd say this is one of Santana's better joints. So go ahead and give it a listen. -MinM
Apparently, The Clipse are back and they tapped Kanye West to help with their returning single. Here is some behind the scenes footage of their upcoming video.
I don't know about this one folks. The song sounds alright but nothing too amazing. And the video looks like your typical hood joints. I used to LOVE The Clipse when they first stepped into the game. But somewhere along the way, they lost it to me. Like their music just isn't as hard or catchy anymore. Doesn't have nothing that made them hot. And what the hell is the big deal about Kanye's sneaker?! I think them joints are beyond ugly! Am I missing something or what? Let me know, maybe someone just needs to break down the appeal to me, lol. What do you guys think? Does this make you excited for the full video, do you not care, let's do some discussing folks. -MinM
Top $ Raz has a very nice delivery on this track. It's smooth and has excellent flow, like the beat was made just for him. The production is hot too, has a nice chill vibe to it. The hook is solid, a little hard to understand though. So maybe slow the delivery down just a tad and watch pronunciation. The verses are good but could have been a little sharper. Needs a little bit more clever word play, metaphors, etc; just something to take it all the way. Overall though, I think the track is fire. Definitely give it a listen or two. And leave a comment, let us know what you think. -MinM
Hey folks, just wanted to wish everyone the best today. Enjoy the grilling, drinking, and other festivities. Have fun but be responsible and safe as well. And much love and respect to all who get remembered on this day. On behalf of The Breezy Effect: HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY :)! -MinM
