We here at The Breezy Effect are no stranger to the homie Donny Goines and his craft. So when I ran across this track, I decided to check it out. Glad I did, it's a banger. The production here is hot. Has a light bass, some jazz sounding instruments, and a very smooth vibe to it. The hook is decent, just a little simple lyrics wise. I would like to have heard something a tad sharper/creative. Again, it's still good though. The verses are fire, very well written. There is a lot of good word play, the delivery was crisp and on point, and everything flowed together perfectly. It's like the lyrics and production were destined to be together, lol. Overall, this is definitely a track to put on repeat a few times. The boy Donny is nice with the rhymes, real talk. But please check it out for yourself and make your own decision. -MinM

Some more details have dropped about DJ AM's death. Reports have it that more drug paraphernalia was found around AM's body. The new discovery has been cited as crack.

Last year DJ AM made headlines for his miraculous survival of a deadly plane crash. Today, he makes headlines for a much sadder reason. The popular deejay has passed away.

Run-DMC Way = The First Ever Hip-Hop Street

Once again rap legends, Run-DMC are making history. They are having a street named after them. The street known as 205th St. & Hollis Avenue will officially become Run-DMC Way on August 30, 2009. Peep the video below for details.

This is cool as hell! What a GREAT look for the hip-hop community! Is there any other genre where artists have their own street? I think this is a first in more ways then one. I am very happy for Run-DMC, this is quite an honorable achievement. Like a lot of people have said, you know you the business when they rename streets after you. That's hot, mega congrats to the rappers! Rest in peace to Jam Master Jay! -MinM

I promised that as soon as I got my hands on this track, it would go up. And thanks to my bff, here it is. The production here is fire. Has a heavy bass, a light instrument, a siren sound effect, and a very chill vibe to it. The hook is solid, lyrics could be a little tighter. But Drake's vocals are on point and his delivery is very smooth. The verses resume the heat, EVERYBODY went in on their parts. Drake starts the ball rolling, Kanye West follows up, Lil Wayne comes in next, and Eminem finishes things off. Again, props to all the rappers because they came with it. Everyone had good delivery, skilled word play, and rode the beat very well. But Em did the best, in my opinion. He had an intense flow, clever rhymes, and just that ill vibe he gets when he goes in on a song. It was the old school classic Em, no silly sh--t here. Overall, I'd say this is definitely a banger. The excitement was definitely worth it. Whoever came up with this lineup, was a very smart person. Don't just take my word for it though, spin it a few times for yourself. -MinM

Tragedy Khadafi F/ Trez - "True Story"

Before we get into this video, let us run through some history real quick on Tragedy Khadafi. Khadafi's real name is Percy Chapman. His stage name is believed to be a nod to the Libyan head of state, Omar Qaddafi. Khadafi hails from Queens, New York. He began his early career as a member of the Juice Crew, which was founded by hip-hop vet Marley Marl in the late 1980's. In the 1990's, he would go on to adopt the moniker Intelligent Hoodlum and release two albums. Due to the controversial and political tones of the albums, they were underground pieces. After this phase in his career, he would shed the moniker and go back to his original title. He spent the later end of the 90's working with the likes of: Mobb Deep, Capone-N-Noreaga, Nas, and several others. Starting around 2001, Khadafi returned to doing solo albums. He would ultimately release about six albums before his incarceration on narcotics charges in 2007. He is slated to be released from prison sometime in the year 2011.
