DJ AM's cause of death has officially been revealed. The Medical Examiner says that the earlier reports of suicide from the police were wrong.
The cause of death was actually acute intoxication or in simpler terms, accidental drug overdose. There was a deadly mix of drugs found in his body. Those drugs are as follows: Cocaine, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl and Levamisole (used to cut Cocaine). One hell of a list right? However, there is a bit of a brighter note here. Though it has been some time since AM's passing and the tributes are mostly over, his memory will continue to live on. MTV and DJ AM were working on a reality show prior to his passing. When he died, the network was uncertain of what they were going to do with the show. After some consideration and talks with AM's family, they have decided to still go ahead and premiere the series. The show will start next month and is slated to be about drug intervention. The title of the show is, Gone Too Far. No specific details about when the show will air or anything has been revealed yet. As things continue to develop with the series, I'll do an update.
It's good to know that he wasn't suicidal, but DAMN! I don't know much about drugs or anything like that, I'll be the first to admit it. But even I know all that ish was a death cocktail waiting to happen. And he may not have been suicidal, but he had to know mixing all that mess was a lethal move. You can only get so high, all that was unnecessary. SMH at the things people do. Anyways, I am curious to see the reality show. It holds a strong sense of irony and I'm just obsessed with reality television in general. Rest in peace once again to AM, may his memory continue to live strong for many years to come. -MinM
