Bet you can't remember the last time that you saw a Ruff Ryders video right? Neither can I, so I figured what the hell this seems like a good review piece. Was it worth the time or should the Ruff Ryders go back into obscurity? Click play and let's find out.
Alright so this video is basically just various members of the Ruff Ryders chilling around cities. DMX and Swizz Beats are in Arizona and the others are in New York. There are a few different large gatherings of sorts and then the usual flashy vehicles / bikes. And of course some solo shots of all the rappers while they're spitting their individual parts. That's the video more or less. Though to the naked eye it might seem like it has no concept or anything, it in fact does. The point of the video is to pay homage to the old Ruff Ryders movement from their run in the 90's. Which makes sense, cause everyone in the video is rocking serious double R gear and it looks like a watered down version of the classic "Ruff Ryders' Anthem" joint. Now for my thoughts.
Much like my feelings about the track, I am disappointed in this video. It seems poorly edited and I wasn't feeling anybody's swag at all. They all just seem so washed up and old. I used to stan HARD for the double R crew back in the 90's too. The cars and bikes were not even all that impressive to me. That used to be one of the things that I loved about their videos. Hell they sparked my interest in motorbikes, four wheelers, etc. Idk, this just didn't do it for me in no way, shape, or form. And it was certainly a very poor tribute to their career in the 90's. When your copying something in tribute, it should be ten times better than the original, not ten times worse. They plan on dropping a new album sometime next year. Hopefully, this was just them shaking the dust off and they come back stronger with some better quality to their work. -MinM
