Got some disappointing news for The Game fans, his fourth album, R.E.D. has officially been put on hold. It was supposed to be released in early December and there has been no new release date set at this time.
Game warned and then confirmed via Twitter early on that the album might be pushed back. He says the record label wanted him to take his time and work with Dr. Dre, so that the album sounds quality and not rushed. In honor of the album though, Game has been doing some serious promotion. He has been giving detailed info about the album and leaking tracks. For example, he says that the album title is not a homage to the infamous gang that sports that color. Instead it is short for rededication, as in Game rededicating himself to hip-hop. Also, he revealed other people who worked on the album besides Dre. He dropped some pretty big names, including: Akon, Chris Brown, Polow Da Don, and more. The singles that leaked from the album were: "Krazy," "Big Money," and a track called, "Better Days." And as a final promo stunt, Game is set to release four new mixtapes before the end of the year. He tied all the mixtapes to the album via their titles. Those titles are as follows: R.E.D. October, Red Tape, Paint The Town RED, and The Redprint. Each mixtape will be hosted by a different deejay. Though the year is just about up, there has been no word on when the public will gain access to these mixtapes. Should anything further become available, I'll do an update.
I wasn't really checking for Game's new album so this doesn't matter much to me. I do appreciate his promotional grind though, the boy is going hard for his project. However, I think all those mixtapes would be overkill. One or two would be sufficient enough to get fans prepared for the album to drop. But whatever gives him hope for album sales, right? -MinM
