Ludacris has finally started making some head way with his upcoming album, Battle Of The Sexes. This is the video for his first single called, "How Low." Let's give it a good old fashioned review, shall we?
The video was directed by Dave Meyers and shot in Los Angeles. The song contains samples from Public Enemy's "Bring The Noise." The video opens with two girls standing in front of the bathroom mirror. One says something about how she heard getting low in front of the mirror will bring Ludacris out. From there they turn on the track and start dancing. Slowly but surely Luda comes through the mirror with an insane bunch of characters. At first, the two girls run away scared down the stairs. Luda and his crew eventually make their way downstairs to the girls and change them into members of the pack. Things begin to wrap up with the party spilling outside of the house. In the end, the camera shows a bunch of girls in a locker room setting in front of another mirror. They too decide to try the dance thing to bring Ludacris out and the video fades with Luda being transferred to the locker room mirror. In between the craziness, Luda is shown rapping on a dark background with dancers and a bunch of special effects at work. And that is pretty much the video.
This video was okay, not really crazy about it though. I loved the special effects and all that but the concept needs some work. I expect more from a Dave Meyers project. And Luda can be more creative then this too. Oh well, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen. Can't wait for the new album though, the singles I've heard so far are fire. -MinM
