News: Soldier Gets Jailed For Rap Lyrics

Army specialist Mark Hall has been jailed over some rap lyrics that he wrote. He is an Iraq war veteran specialist and based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia. He has been jailed since December. His lyrics caused such alarm due to the fact that he threatens the lives of several of his fellow soldiers in his song.

Not just any soldiers either, but high ranking ones like: Colonels, Kernels, Captains, etc; with the use of his M4 assault rifle. Apparently, the message of the song more or less was that Hall was going to go on a rampage against other soldiers if he was to ever be deployed to Iraq again. His is being charged with “conduct prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the Armed Forces” and “threatening violence on multiple occasions.” Hall not only leaked the song online but sent a copy to the Pentagon as well, according to reports. Sources say that Hall was driven to do the song, after he received a letter stating that he was to be sent back to Iraq on another tour of duty. To make matters even worse, Hall is believed to be a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, a well known anti war group. The group is supposedly trying to hire a Washington based lawyer to defend Hall. The lawyer says that the army is taking the song lyrics too literally and that the charges against Hall are too extreme. Hall's incident took place just one month after the tragedy that occurred at Fort Hood in Texas. If interested, you may check out the song here.

This is pretty crazy news. I don't understand why these soldiers don't just try talking to someone about not being deployed. All these extreme acts are just unnecessary and cause a lot more drama then a simple conversation would. On another note, people are entitled to freedom of speech. And this is no where near as bad as the Fort Hood thing was. Oh well, it's the army, they can do what they want, lol. -MinM

with all of the 'scares' going on, those lyrics could be taken seriously. but at the same time, rappers say so many crazy things that you dont know what to believe. eminem should be jailed for all of the threats he has dished. the government picks and chooses what they want to act on. idk.
