Though not the biggest names in the game, several small time rappers are getting together tonight for a benefit concert for Haiti. As I'm sure everyone knows by now, the island was pretty much destroyed by an earthquake last Tuesday. The concert is being done by a group of West Coast rappers. Headlining the concert are rappers: Nipsey Hussle, Pac-Div, and Strong Arm Steady. The concert has been dubbed, "The Cool Relief Effort And Benefit Concert For Haiti." The hosts for the event will be Devi Dev and The Lax Paperboys. Several other rappers and deejays have signed on to appear at the concert as well. The benefit is being held at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. Tickets are a $20 donation, with all proceeds going to Wyclef Jean's www.Yele.org and the Earthquake Alliance. Also, organizers have asked that fans bring in: canned goods, food, clothes, medical supplies, and any other items that can be useful and sent to the Haiti survivors. This is just one of many forms of effort from the Hip-Hop community. Several other rappers have: started blood drives, donated tons of money, campaigned for donations, etc. We definitely got Haiti's back in their time of need.
I think this is a good look. I am very proud of all the rappers stepping up and handling their business. Just goes to prove that when needed, rappers can act like they have a little sense and be productive in a positive manner. So mad props to all those helping out. And to the people of Haiti, my heart goes out to you all. Rest in peace to all those lost and your in my prayers. -MinM
