DJ Premier one half of the rap group Gangstarr, has confirmed reports that his fellow group member Guru, has indeed suffered a heart attack. The rapper apparently had a massive heart attack in New York City over the weekend. The heart attack was so severe, that it left Guru in a coma. The rapper was supposed to have surgery today. Guru has been a member of the hip-hop community since 1989, when Gangstarr began to release classic albums such as No More Mr. Nice Guy. He would go on to contribute vocals as a member of the group up until about 2003. In 2004 he started his own record label called 7 Grand, where he released a series of albums entitled Jazzmatazz. His last effort was in 2009, with an album titled, Guru 8.0: Lost & Found. His fellow group member, as well as people he has collaborated with in the past, have all spoken out about this unfortunate recent event. They all got a lot of love for Guru and want him to recover from this more than anything. Also, they have stated that the world would just not seem the same without him in it. No further info is available about Guru's situation at this time. I will do my best to keep readers up to date.
This is a sad thing to hear. I been through having to see a loved one survive a heart attack, it is the worst thing ever. So my heart and sympathies go out to Guru and his people. I wish him nothing but the best and a speedy / successful recovery. -MinM
