Paul Wall is making big moves outside of the Hip-Hop game. The Houston rapper was just elected President of the Texas chapter of the Recording Academy. The Recording Academy is the organization that is behind the Grammy Awards.
Previously, the rapper was a Governor in the chapter. And he was in good company too, as the likes of Matthew Knowles, Joe Posada, Chuck Rainey, and several other respected names in the Texas area were also part of the chapter. Paul Wall says he has been involved with The Recording Academy for quite some time now. He appreciates the process and wants to recruit more people to help out with the voting portion of things. Also, he thinks more local members joining, could do a lot for the music scene in Texas. He feels that a lot of the music in Texas, tends to get over looked. In addition to his upgraded membership, Paul Wall ended one of the biggest beefs in the Texas Hip-Hop community. He made amends with fellow rapper Chamillionaire and the two followed up their reunion with a performance in Austin at SXSW. Their performance also marked the beginning of their tour together, which is titled the “In Love With My Money Tour.” And Paul wants his fans to know, that he isn't done recording yet either. Along with everything else, he is working on a brand new album titled, Heart Of A Champion. No further info is available about the tour or album at this time. Should anything further develop, I'll do an update.
This is pretty interesting to me. I never would have guessed that Paul Wall would be involved with this kind of thing. It's a good look though. I think more rappers need to get involved with prestigious things outside of the Hip-Hop community. And I'm glad that him and Cham stopped beefing too. That went on for way too long, hell I don't even remember what they were originally beefing over in the first place. Much love to Paul, he's doing his thing these days. -MinM
