Nicki Minaj F/ Sean Garrett - "Massive Attack"

This is Nicki Minaj's first solo mainstream music video. Therefore, thought it would be worth posting a review on. Plus, it's causing quite the buzz. Some people are feeling it and some others aren't. Let's click play and see how Miss Minaj gets down on the solo tip.

This video was directed by the infamous Hype Williams and was set in the deserts of Lancaster, California. Things kick off with Nicki and Sean Garrett chilling in a sandy area. Then, the scene gives way to a helicopter and a pink car cruising down the road. Once the first verse kicks in, we see Nicki in a very strange outfit doing her thing and in various shots she is joined by an army of females with pink wigs and outfits. From here, we see Nicki in the jungle with a crazy pink ponytail, doing her popular bizarre animated antics. Also, there is a close up of the pink car from the opening and miss Amber Rose just happens to be the driver. Things continue to go back and forth between the various desert scenes for a duration of the video. Included in the mix are some close up shots of some of the creatures that happen to live in the desert. So things like: spiders, snakes, camels, etc; can be seen. And of course there are shots of Garrett singing his part as well. He didn't get nearly as outrageous as Nicki though. The video wraps up with Nicki in a bikini style outfit crawling through the jungle, hanging out in water, and sporting green hair instead of pink. The final shots are of two males, doing some serious bone breaking style dancing in army fatigues. That pretty much summarizes the video. 

This video is alright but it needs some serious work. It has no real concept or theme and Nicki gets a little too bizarre at moments. I can understand wanting to be creative and all that, but I think she tried just a tad too hard. And she went overkill on all that pink ish too. There are other barbie friendly colors out there. The song isn't all that great either. For her first round out the gate, I think both projects are a disappointment. Her mixtape material is ten times better than this. Hopefully, she steps her quality game up for the next video. But on another note, all the random off the wall ish that makes up the video, definitely has people going.
