Today rapper Lil Boosie went to to court to face a hearing related to his first degree murder charge. The several other men who got indicted along with the rapper, had their day in court as well. Boosie went before the judge for about two minutes and entered a not guilty plea. His defense attorney Marcus Allen, says that he believes his client is not guilty and that they are doing all they can to prepare for his defense against the indictment. On the opposite end of things, District Attorney Hillar Moore refrained from comment on the details of the pending case. But he did mention that it should be noted that the rapper is facing several other charges, including the drug indictment, and so it is difficult to speak on the rapper's future at the moment. Also, he says that as with all cases, Boosie is being presumed innocent until there is evidence that proves otherwise.
The production here is solid. It has a low bass, some light instruments, and a slow tempo going on. The hook is fair, T-Pain has his signature auto-tune vocals in full effect. The lyrics could have been a little more creative though. As is, they didn't seem to flow too well with the beat. The verses were also just alright, there was nothing to make them stand out or memorable. Bun B needs to step his game way up on this one. He could have used more clever word play and stronger metaphors. The back and forth section between him and Pain towards the end of the track, was a little slick though. Overall, this song is mediocre at best. Bun B has done way hotter tracks than this in the past. But please take a listen for yourself. And if you liked it this is reportedly off of his upcoming project called Trill O.G., which is supposed to hit retailers August 3, 2010. -MinM
Popular Houston radio personality Brandi Garcia was fired from her long term job at KBXX 97.9 radio station earlier this month. She was fired because she played a song that featured rapper Trae Tha Truth. The radio station apparently has a huge beef going on with the rapper and have banned him, his music, and anything or anyone tied to him. Garcia was spinning at a concert at the Arena Theater and played Waka Flocka Flame's "O Let's Do It Remix" which includes a verse from Trae. Garcia states that she went into the radio station office the next day and was told she was fired for playing the track. She had been with the station for about five years. What makes things even worse is that she was not even representing the station at the concert event. She was spinning on her own time as part of a job that she received from a private promoter. And though it may not be fair that she was fired, the radio station seems to be well within their rights to let her go. Sadly Garcia is now a casualty in the Trae Tha Truth war.
Since The Game is struggling to get his upcoming album a certified release date, thought fans might want a little something to hold them over. The production here is hot. It has a strong bass line, a piano sound, and a smooth feel to it. The hook is just fair. Robin Thicke's vocals are fine, in fact they match the production perfectly. It's almost like the beat was made especially for his voice. However, the lyrics are very weak. They are just average lines with no substance or flow to them. Thicke is capable of much better work. The verses are a step up from the hook. Game has a laid back delivery with well put together rhymes. The only complaint is that there is a lot of repetition and Game could have done much better with his word play. His metaphors and such are very simple, anyone could have came up with them. For the caliber of rapper that he is, he did not do himself justice. It's a little disappointing. Overall this track is alright, worth a spin or two. Both artists have a history of making bangers though and fall short here. Then again, guess you can't knock it out the park all the time. Only way to get a sure take on this track, is to listen for yourselves. So go ahead and click that link. -MinM
For those who may not remember, Lil Wayne had an additional case pending while he was getting ready to serve his current year. This case stems from Arizona and is for more of the same foolishness that has him locked up now.
Looks like Lil Boosie's hellish journey due to his new indictments has begun. Shortly after the news broke about his indictment for murder, the rapper was transferred to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Also, he released a statement saying that he is innocent and had nothing to do with the murder in question. But the police are stating that Boosie paid to have Terry Boyd killed and they are officially looking into the other five murders that the rapper has been tied to as well. One murder in particular is that of a man named Chris "Nussie" Jackson. Jackson was killed in February of 2009. Officials believe that all the murders are related due to the common theme of money paid and the similar styles of the murders. If convicted of the murders, Boosie faces the possibility of death by lethal injection. Boosie's drug indictment is in full swing too. His girlfriend, the former correctional officer, and the other inmate have all been officially charged with the drug crimes. Reports have it that Boosie's girlfriend has also been arrested. If Boosie is found guilty on his drug indictment, he could face life in prison.
Things are not looking too good for Southern rap favorite Lil Boosie. This due to the fact that he was just indicted on first degree murder. He was indicted by a Baton Rouge Parish grand jury for the shooting of a man named Terry Boyd, that took place in October 2009. If convicted, the rapper may face the harshest punishment that any rapper has ever received. According to the district attorney, Lil Boosie could get hit with the death penalty. He will not go down for the murder by himself though. Six other men have also been indicted and were all charged with first degree murder as well. They range from ages 16 - 36 and there is no word on what punishment they are facing if convicted. To make things even worse, first degree murder is not the only charge that the rapper is facing. He is also being charged with conspiracy to smuggle narcotics into prison. For this charge he has: a girlfriend, another inmate, and a formal correctional officer going down with him. And if all this wasn't enough, it is said that prosecutors believe Boosie has a hand in AT LEAST FIVE other murders! Quite a bit to take in all at once, huh? At the current time, Boosie is an inmate at the Dixon Correctional Institute. No further information is available about this situation at the moment. I will definitely keep readers updated though. A complete list of the rapper's charges so far can be found after the jump, as spotted on AllHipHop.Com.
Okay, going to keep this as simple as possible. Today marks Tupac's 39th birthday. Since he was and still is such a huge figure in the Hip-Hop community, it is only right to acknowledge this day. However, the typical song or video seemed played out this year. Instead, I have decided to share a poem from Pac's book, The Rose That Grew From Concrete. The poem is titled "Only 4 The Righteous" and can be found after the jump.
*Note: Sorry about any problems you may have had viewing this video. Guess iTunes had to try and get their money before the video was totally accessible.
Anyways, this is the song that made me a certified B.o.B fan. Therefore, a video review was a must for this project. Let's click play and check out B.o.B and Miss Hayley Williams doing their thing.
Haven't really gotten into J. Cole like that but the young rapper has made quite the name for himself. So I decided to review a track of his for the first time ever. The production here is hot. It kicks off with a groovy piano sound and then a strong bass line comes in. Overall, the production gives off a definite feel good vibe. The hook is on point too. The lyrics are simple but catchy and continue the fun feel of the track. "Come here, I'm bout to take you higher. We about to set this b---ch on fire. Pour a little gas, spark up ya lighter. You might not be the one, but you the one that I desire," has a smooth flow to it, right? The verses are also solid, J. Cole handles his business. He has a skillful delivery, well put together rhymes, and the listener can definitely tell that he is into the track. In the end, this song is certainly a banger. It made me want to hear more J. Cole at least. But since everyone has different tastes, click the link and judge with your own ears. -MinM
