The Madden Brothers (Joel & Benji of Good Charlotte) have released their collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly. The name of the track is entitled "Ohmygod (OMGMGK)" and is featured on their newly released mixtape Before Volume 1. It includes a Skrillex sample, some singing from the brothers, and MGK's signature rapid delivery. The video for the track debuted on RollingStone.com last week and can be seen here. Before Volume 1 serves as the brothers' ode to their love of music. The duo came up with all the concepts and handled the production. The project contains everything from Pop to Hip-Hop and features everyone from Wiz Khalifa to Kreayshawn. The brothers had no set goal in mind for the mixtape but are excited to have it completed. And they promise that if fans love the first volume, the second volume is sure to be a treat as well. Readers can listen to the entire Before Volume 1 mixtape via Complex.com.
I never knew the Madden Brothers were into Hip-Hop. I really liked this collaboration, its extra dope. The video is hot too. I love the color it was shot in. And the trio seem to have a natural "bad boy" style chemistry together. The rest of the tape sounds good as well. My favorite track is "The Trees." Gotta love The Cool Kids. -MinM
Well the inevitable has finally happened. Female rapper Nicki Minaj's barbie ego has become the real deal. The news took the net by storm today that Minaj has teamed up with Mattel to make a limited edition Barbie that will be auctioned off for charity. The Barbie comes complete with Minaj's infamous pink hair, her Barbie chain, some fierce boots, and an over the top skirt. So it will pretty much be the spitting image of Nicki. The doll will be made available for bidding via CharityBuzz.com and will also be featured at the Divine Design five day event at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, according to Billboard. The starting bid for the doll is a steep $1,000 and the auction will run until December 19. All proceeds from the bidding will go to Project Angel Food. Project Angel Food is a non-profit organization that assists women, men, and children that have been impacted by HIV/AIDS. So the starting price is a bit high but it's for an amazing cause. Reps from Mattel are excited to be working with Nicki. They feel the female rapper's status in today's pop culture goes hand in hand with the legendary Barbie brand. Of course Nicki and her barbz/kens are elated as well. Nicki stated that this is a huge moment in her career and that it makes a statement about how she has chosen to market herself. She has caught tons of heat for doing the whole Barbie thing but looks like it paid off. There has been no word on if this is a one time deal or not. Speculation about a Minaj edition doll hitting shelves has already begun. With Minaj's following, it's not a bad idea. She did a small deal with MAC for her debut album and the lipstick sold so fast that they had to drastically increase the number of lipsticks produced to meet demand. Word has it that she will be the face of one of their 2012 campaigns as a result of the high sales. Also, she has a deal going with O.P.I. for her own nail polish line and that is causing quite the buzz as well. Nicki seems to be a profitable brand. Heard she is working on some apparel ventures too.
